What is Sacrifice?

One of my brilliant Reiki students called me the other day, and mentioned that she got the message and realization about what does sacrifice actually mean. She said that sacrifice does not mean giving away something to ward off some negative outcome or to attract positive outcomes. In its essence, sacrifice means to make something sacred. This is the true meaning of sacrifice. After speaking with her a thought came to my mind that what does it mean to make something sacred? What is being sacred mean? And then I got this realization that being sacred means to serve its purpose. Everything that serves its purpose becomes sacred. In other words, all other things in the Universe start respecting that thing and make sure not to get in its way or disturb its functioning. This is the true meaning of being sacred.

So sacrifice is to make something sacred. And to make something sacred is to let go of that which is not in line with the true purpose of that thing.

If you want to become sacred, align yourself to your truest purpose. You will automatically become sacred for the whole Universe.
