Shehbaz's Law of Presence
How to Stay in the Present Moment?
Shehbaz’s Law of Presence states that one cannot stay in the present moment unless they train for it.
You may have heard many masters say you should stay in the present moment. But most people don’t know how to do it. Here’s a way how to do it based on the physical fitness and weight lifting principle of gradual increase in strength due to progressive overload and training. In this case, training to go lighter and lighter, shedding the weight of time gradually off the conscious mind.
The present moment is a very small unit of time for most people who are not trained. Usually, people’s minds are scattered pretty far and wide, covering centuries, and in some cases lifetimes. So trying to shed everything hanging onto vast time limits and bringing all your focus into a tiny dot of the present moment is really hard.
The Method
First, start with training yourself to stay in the present lifetime.
Then train yourself to think about things related to the present decade of your life example, 20’s, 30’s, 40’s and so on.
Then train yourself to stay in the present year. You can start with your birthday to your next birthday or January to December. Train yourself to just think about projects, goals, things, experiences, learnings, etc of this present year.
Then train yourself to stay in the present month.
Then train yourself to stay in the present week.
Then train yourself to stay in the present day.
Then train yourself to stay in the present hour.
Then train yourself to stay in the present half-hour.
Then train yourself to stay in the present quarter-hour.
Then train yourself to stay in the present five minutes.
Then train yourself to stay in the present minute.
Then train yourself to stay in the present 30 seconds.
Then train yourself to stay in the present 15 seconds.
Then train yourself to stay in the present 5 seconds.
Then train yourself to say in the present second.
Shehbaz’s Law of Presence states that one cannot stay in the present moment unless they train for it.
So go over the above list, and see where you currently are. Then start from that point onwards.
That’s how you can jump from the vast ocean of eternal time into the present moment. Like you cannot lift an Olympic level weight in your first lift, you cannot focus on present moment without consistent training and practice. Meditation is your coach in this training.
