Role of Religions in Modern Consciousness

During Reiki invocation today morning, I was given this understanding that the traditional religions are no longer needed to be followed strictly word to word by the people of the world. Those religions were like the scaffolding of a building, to help the structure go higher and stronger level by level. Now the world consciousness is developed to an extent that sticking to the fundamental principles of those religions is enough and following the strict rituals is not necessary. Like a scaffolding, the religions helped human consciousness to grow tremendously, but now the building does not need the scaffolding anymore or at least to the full extent that once was necessary. However, as each person and group’s consciousness within the collective human consciousness is at a different level, so if you feel worried you might lose your way, then hold on to the rituals, there is no harm in following them. Just that the world can relax with the rituals if they are able to hold on to the principles such as truth, respecting and helping each other, justice, and so on. And yes, the religious texts are powerful in themselves and one can make use of them as they feel like.
